When it rains, it pours!! I am so honored that some of my fellow bloggers have thought of me for not one, but two blog awards in the past few weeks! (Yes… I’m slacking). Jolene over at Joeyfully Stated nominated me for the Infinity Dreams Award, and Solveig at Solveig Werner nominated me for the Neat Blogger Award. Thank you both so much for your kind words and appreciation! I met Jolene a while back, and Solveig during last month’s A-Z Blogging Challenge and am so happy our paths crossed! I highly recommend you check out their fantastic blogs!!! 🙂
Questions Jolene gave me for the Infinity Dreams Award (and answers):
1. What’s your favorite ice cream?
Starbucks Java Chip or Tillamook Chocolate Peanut Butter. I have this odd thing I do with ice cream. I’ll put a scoop in a bowl, pour some milk over it, and crush up the ice cream, letting it mix with the cold milk. You get a similar consistency that you see with a root beer float, the ice cream gets all crunchy and icy. Noms!
2. What are you drinking?
Right now? 4 shots of deliciousness…
3. Read any good books lately?
I’m just finishing up “All the Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr. Enjoying it for sure, but it hasn’t been a huge page turner. After I’m done with this book, I’ll finish “Moloka’i” by Alan Brennert. This one is page tuner, but I had to swap books as “All the Light” was finally available at the library, and is currently overdue with a wait list. 😦
4. Seen any good films lately?
St. Vincent was surprisingly really good. It had every element: drama, comedy, romance, and was just an all around good movie. My husband and I both loved it, which is a rarity.
5. How’s your weather?
Raining as it should be. Over the weekend? Fucking 80 degrees… If I wanted 80+ degrees in the spring, I wouldn’t be living in the Pacific Northwest…
6. Had any interesting dreams here of late?
Had an odd dream last night, actually. I vaguely remember walking into the lobby at some fancy resort, stealing two handfuls of chocolates they had sitting in a bowl on the lobby desk, stuffing them into my bra to hide the contrabands, and flipping the receptionist off when she called me out as I ran outside like a burglar. I think my subconscious is telling me I need some chocolate…
7. What’s ailin ya?
Ha! What isn’t? The past few months have been especially trying, and I’m just chugging along, knowing that stressful and troubling times are just phases in life and things will always turn around.
8. Do you know The Muffin Man, The Way to San Jose, or what I mean?
I eat muffins. And I bake them. From scratch. With fresh berries.
9. If you had to choose, would you rather be a cat or a dog?
Dog all the way. Cats are bitchy.
10. What kind of fries do you like?
Fries are my go-to comfort food. I’ve never been one to down a pint of ice cream in one sitting when depressed (that is my sister’s guilty pleasure), but salty potatoes? GIMME! Loaded preferably. With bacon and freshly grated cheddar cheese. Now excuse me please as I fall into a deep food coma…
11. Do you think five questions would be more than enough?
YES! This the my 3rd/4th blog award I’ve participated in and I feel that less is more. To keep people participating and not getting bored, less questions per award and unique questions to that particular award would be ideal.
Questions Solveig gave me for the Neat Blogger Award (and answers):
1. As a child what did you want to become? (princess is an acceptable answer)
A writer or a marine biologist. My how things change. Happily, I still maintained my love for writing as I grew up, so I have that going for me!
2. What piece of your own writing are you most proud of?
Hmm… My first piece of legit published work was such a huge achievement for me. I wrote a review for a former professor’s book and it was published in a literary magazine. Today, I’m super proud of my baby novel that is starting to take shape. Some of my poetry I’m especially proud of, particularly the ones that show raw emotion, which I’m always very intimidated to share amongst such fantastic writers and poets.
3. If you were an animal what would you be, and why?
AN OTTER!!! My spirit animal. I’m a Cancer, and have always been drawn to the water, whether that be the ocean, a lake, a stream, a river, or a puddle I just have to jump in.
4. If you were stranded on a lonely island (there will be food and drink there) what/who would you take with you (3 things at the most)?
The hubs, tampons (let’s be real ladies, you know you’d be crying for them), sunglasses.
5. Is there some advice that you would like to share?
Don’t let cats get stuck in your attic. There is one in my attic at work right now and the critter won’t shut up…
Blogs to Check Out!
Rather than nominating bloggers to participate, I’m taking a cue from Ula at Confessions of a Broccoli Addict and am doing a shout out to blogs that I suggest you take a look at. These phenomenal writers are in no way obligated to participate, and I’d rather just acknowledge those bloggers who have truly inspired me as of late. That being said, I’m being super lazy (not drafting my own questions as I’ve done in the past) and would say if anyone chooses to participate, to answer the same questions I did.
Confessions of a Broccoli Addict – I met Ula through last month’s challenge and she is such a versatile and prolific writer. I absolutely love every piece of writing she posts, whether that be a beautiful piece of poetry or an informative and serious article. She is truly an excellent and well rounded writer, definitely one to check out!
Forgotten Meadows – Neha was one of the first bloggers who I started following when I began my blog over a year ago. She has been encouraging me with her kind words from day one as I have built my blog up from nothing. Neha captures so much through her poetry and I am so grateful that our paths crossed!
Richard Ankers – Whether it be short fiction, poetry, or his novel (which I am very excited to start reading!), Mr. Ankers never fails to disappoint. His writing is incredibly eclectic, whether that be an evocative piece of prose chocked full of deep emotion, or a quaint poem describing a stunning snippet of nature. All of his writing is fresh and new and never fails to disappoint!
The Whispering Pen – Nicole needs no introduction. Her posts on writing are informative and inspirational, certainly providing the motivation I need at times to keep trudging on! Nicole’s various and engaging blog topics always pull her readers in, and her creative pieces are absolutely breathtaking. Great things to come from this fine lady!
Leaf and Twig – Leaf and Twig is a blog I look forward to visiting every morning. Amazing nature photography accompanied by beautiful short poems. Catherine’s stunning work is the epitome of “less is more” in that she captures such beautiful moments and feelings in the most amazing, simplistic way.
