Dune Grass and Sand

Afternoon rays warm
naked arms,
bare, hoping for heat.

Salt breeze blows
off the bay,
scent of sea
fills greedy

Hike around the spit,
rounds corner
to landscape lush
with dune grass and sand.

Smooth driftwood
piles, shelter
from whipping wind.
Leans back,
breaths it in.

Bare feet
hot with hike
parade down
packed sand,
wet with salt.

Icy water pricks,
laps against ankles,
soothes sore soles.

Picks up shells,
sand dollars for
garden beds.
heaven home.
