Trail Ribbons and Shadows

Day 20 – “T” Trails

Red chipped paint stands
alone.
Pushed against
the hillside.

Palomino pasture
sun glitters
through golden mane.

Thin ribbon of logging road
winds up,
overgrown with
landslide limbs.

Trail head worn with rain
leads away,
deep into solitude.

Carpet hundreds of
years thick surrounds.
Moss mattress
springs back with each
intrusive step.

Winding up with
switchbacks
and stairways.
Emerging from the
tunnel of fir,
the basalt crag juts.

Sunlight soaks, warms.
Muscles relax,
lungs calm.
Top of the ridge the
red and golden
dots glimmer.

Western hills cast
sunset shadows.

One of the many trails we visit on a regular basis.

    1. Thank you!! This is a lovely hike we love to do in the summer. After driving through some gorgeous countryside, the trail head winds up a ridge to the most stunning views of the valley! 🙂
